"Hi, I'm Cath and very excited to have just taken on the franchise for the North East What's on 4 Juniors. I live in Newcastle with my husband Mike, and children, Henry aged 4 and twins, Thomas and Elizabeth, who are very definitely aged two and a half, plus my original baby, Billy the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, aged 7 and still wagging! I took a break from my previous incarnation as a chartered accountant when my twins came along to enjoy spending time being a mum and observing the all-round fascinating, if not occasionally demanding, social experiment that is 'life with twins’!
Over the last few years, as well as working as content manager for an accounting website in my spare time (haha!), I’ve been thoroughly enjoying getting out and about with the kids. We've visited all manner of clubs and activities from swimming to singing, and football to yoga, and not to mention rather a lot of messy play….. ! Not only has it entertained and stimulated my growing tribe but has also provided that piece of sanity and fun for me. So when the opportunity came along to take on the What's On 4 Junior franchise and help to promote kids activities and resources around the region, this seemed like a ideal opportunity to give something back!"
Clare Wingfieldruns the What's On 4 Junior Franchise in the South East...Clare says...
"Like so many mums, I had a really great career before I had my children but it all went on hold when the babies arrived. With my girls settled at school & nursery, it was time to think about getting back into the workplace but finding a job that would work around my family and not compromise how I want to raise my daughters was not easy – and so I found myself firstly responding to and then getting very excited about the WO4J opportunity.
I took over the South East region at the beginning of May and it’s been a massive learning curve for me ever since – not only have I had to learn about how our websites work but also I’m learning about the huge potential that is social media – there is so much more to Facebook that just sharing photos of your kids! And when I’m talking to my customers, social media is very much the hot topic.
The WO4 team have been hugely supportive and I’ve received a lot of training. The team is geographically dispersed yet relationships are being built using the power of technology and a real mutual desire to make a success of my region.
Financially, my region is in line with projections and, now that I’m starting to build my sales team, I’m hoping that we will see strong sales growth over the next few months.
On a personal level, I am happy and excited to be running my own business – my head is buzzing with ideas and it’s great to be working again…but I’m still there at the school gates every day."
